Hi, I live in mexico with my wife and I need a job. Does anyone have any good ideas of Job options. I love her a lot and she is working for me but I want to help. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please detailed answers. Thanks for your time.

Start looking in your local newspaper! Place an add in the local newspaper with your qualifications! Improvise!....make up your own business, like mowing lawns. Call around! and ask friends for work! Keep searching! don't give up. P.S. - If there is no work down in Mexico you could always hop over here! Everyone does it!

Since most of the people in this forum don't live in Mexico; much less Veracruz...it's kind of hard to give suggestions. Isn't it somewhat of a tourist area? Think of things to do for the visitors: you could be a tour guide for shoppers by helping them to find certain things or types of stores. Maybe you could charge a nominal fee to people to take them on local tours...$5.00 or $10.00 per hour or whatever rate the economy and demand will bring.

I'm not familiar with Veracruz, but if there are any tourists in your area I may have an idea. I know I would love some authentic homecooked mexican food so if you were to set up like a roadside stand or a small booth (a table, really) in town you may find you have all sorts of customers. Take care!

Sounds ike you are not a Mexican citizen...which means you need an FM3 visa with a work permit. You can only get one of those if you find an employer who will write a letter to immigration stating he is hiring you for a job he cannot find a mexican citizen for...and he sponsors your work permit. Unless you can find a foreign employer or you have a very special work skill, getting a work permit is nearly impossible. if you have enough money to start your own small business you could do that. If you could make contact with other foreigners living in Veracruz, they may have ideas.

Charlie like usual gave another good answer to a commonly asked question. Is your wife mexican? If you live in Mexico long enough, you can be eligible for permanent residency or even mexican citizenship. New laws enable you to keep your birthright citizenship so you could become a dual citizen just like me. Permanent residency is the second best thing to being an actual citizen. You can get any job you feel like without the FM3 visa, the requirements to keeping the residency status are very reasonable and you can always choose to get full citizenship whenever you want. The only thing you won't be able to do is vote, only as a naturalized citizen will you be able to do that. Ask local authorities in Veracruz what are the requirements, if you have been married long enough, you could be eligible today. Getting permanent residency will be far easier than getting the FM3 visa. I do highly suggest that if you don't speak spanish now, that you learn the language. You need to be decently fluent to get citizenship. If you have the money, you could open your own business with your wife as the official owner. However, Mexico is famous for it's endless tramitations to legally create a new business, it's crazy. What kind of business could work? If you live in a village, think what common usage stores aren't available yet. Are there tienditas? Bread stores? Tortillas stores? Comida corrida stores? You'd probably need at least 5000 dollars to open your own business so it's a very risky proposal.

How can I save / make money on my travels???
How can I save / make money on my travels???
I am going to central and south america - Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Argentina and Brazil. I am trying to learn as much spanish I can along the way. I've saved up some money but not as much as I hoped and I am going for 5/6 months in about a month. Does anyone know ways I can save/make money while I am out there???

Wow, good for you. Enjoy the life while you can. If you can get in contact with some travel companies / magazines maybe you can write some travel articles. How old are you? If you are realtively young 18 to about 30 maybe you can earn some money on the beach if you go there. One thing you need to remember. If you are not a citizen of that country, then you may be violating the laws of that country by not having a work permit. I see you will be hitting a lot of countries that require visas in advance. Save it for another time and go for Mexico through Costa Rica by bus, not expensive and good buses Then fly to the mainland of South America, Colombia or Venezuela. What is a good money making, sustainable business idea for Baja California Sur Mexico?
I am from Canada, and I am visiting, Cabo, La Paz, Todo Santos etc. And I would like to put some money into a good business idea. What does this area need the most? What would be a good money maker? It doesn't have to be an original idea, just something that we take for granted back home, that may make a lot of money down here. Any thoughts? Thanks.

How much does an auto factory worker make a week in Mexico? an hourly worker, turning screws or spray painting?
I've been told they make $2 an hour. I don't' believe that, does anyone really know, how much does that Mexican worker take home in a week? Not the plant engineer or maintenance crew but the hourly worker.I know they make cars in Mexico, I saw them all lined up on the dock when on a cruise. Aren't we told the reason Business leaves the US is because our worker make too much money and the item can be made outside the US and shipped in, cheaper? How much per hour?

Thanks to Tonalc2. we have a talking point to begin with. 3.00 an hour loaded would give you 6 with benefits if the same factors for loaded hour wage are the same used in this country. It really stands to reason if you were an auto maker you would be foolish not to take that factory to Mexico. Because the average loaded hourly rate in this country is 78.00 an hour. So this is really a no brainer, What we have to do as a Nation is find a way to balance out these inconsistencies, Either through tariff, or Dock fees, or somehow through another trade item we can strike an equitable balance, Me Im just a Homicide cop not an economist, So Im out of ideas. But you real smart guys out there in that field should be able to come up with a balance.

And yet the illegals are still coming into the U.S. looking for work. 3.50 an hr!! Attention out of work Americans!!! If you need a job go to Mexico. Let's just see if we can get free everything while we are their illegally. What a load of tihs.

The minimum wage in 2005 was $4.50 per day. I saw a link saying the typical wage for a factory worker was $1.85 a few years back. I suspect that it is a couple dollars and hour plus change today. The information you have been told is pretty accurate. It is sad to see how prediction about the race to the bottom the NAFTA critics predicted is coming true.

What are the best ways for "gringos" to make a living in mexico?
What are the best ways for "gringos" to make a living in mexico?
Without having a college degree or any technical experience other than random jobs. I've heard that teaching english is a good way to make money but it looks like most places require a college degree and experience as well as having a TEFL certificate. Can anyone shed some light on that?

When I was down there, I saw many Americans and Australians working in sales at the resorts and timeshares. Since most of their potential clients are Americans or English-speaking tourists, the resorts definitely need "gringos" to work there.

This is a serious question, and want to know if in the State of New Mexico, an owner of a nonprofit business can make money and earn a living from this business? The business itself isn't supposed to post a profit, but that doesn't mean the employees of the business can't earn a nice salary for themselves. 2 : The difference between "for profit" and "non profit" is in basic terms what must be done with the profits. In "non profit", the profits are returned to the business. In "for profit" the profits can distributed to the shareholders via dividends. Think about hospitals, the vast majority of which are "non profit". Their employees certainly earn livings! And the reason hospitals go on building binges is the requirement for all of the excess to be put back into the hospitals -- or they can lose their status as "non profit". A CPA or attorney can help you get it all sorted out. By the way, just being "non profit" does NOT make contributions to the business deductible as charitable contributions -- to do that, you have to get a special designation from IRS. |
