How to make a living in Mexico?

How to make a living in Mexico?
Ive recently went on a trip to Puerto Vallarta and I fell in love with the city and its people. I cried for days wishing to go back. Ive made the decision that im going to continue my life there within the next five years. I understand that im not going to make much money there no matter what kind of job i may find there. my question is what possible job opportunities that are open for me so that i can make a living while im there? Im aware of jobs such as: ~Time share sales person ~English teacher teacher Any information on those jobs would be super helpful. And any other ways of making a living in Mexico is strongly appericated. Actually, I was in Puerto Vallarta for a month, my grandfather has a condo at Molino de agua (right in old town). I brought small toys and school supplies along to give out to the poor childern there ( which there were many of them) just seeing smiles on their faces made me realized that i love people and i would love to continue a living im mexico or somewhere where people dont take life for graunted. And i wasn't just stuck in the city, we stayed in San Sebastian and visted other little villages.

I'm not sure about the English teacher thing. You'll probably need some American proof like a certificate or something...or High School Diploma. Calderon is really setting things now... The Education field in Mexico trying to be improved... Maybe time share..?? Good Luck!!

Ok, First let me introduce myself....i´m mexican and let me tell you something....Mexico is really wonderfull....and you, as a foreing, you can work in many ways....for exzmple: in tourists centers, hotels, restaurants, all those specially in a touristic zone like Puerto vallarta!! But if you want another kind of work...the best opcion and the one i recomend to you is to be an English teacher, you don´t need a document (if you have a certificate is better) you just have to demostrate that you are foreinger...everybody would like to have a teacher from anothr country and tou will make a lot of money because here in mexico people have to study a lot for being an English teacher, they have to study, specialize, practice and get documents....but if you are from Uk it´s very very very easy. Greetings from Mexico :D

English Teacher at a chain school, not sure which ones are there but there is information probably on Daveseslcafe. Teachers at those kind of schools usually get like $45-$48 pesos per hour with 5 classes maximum so you could make $30 dollars a day if you are lucky. Or you could work at a hotel maybe and get like $200 pesos/day. You always have to work 6 days a week so be prepared. It's far from glamourous, the opposite really... after awhile you'll be poor too and you will see the way life really is in Mexico. Maybe timeshare people make more, don't know. Other opportunities for you could be entertainment staff at a hotel or working for a company called Vallarta Adventures as a tour guide or photographer. For information on jobs and apartments visit the website Mano a mano... just type it in google to find it "mano a mano puerto vallarta".

Mikey is retired in Acapulco. See this a lot ............ First - vacationing in any city in Mexico is not the REAL Mexico. It is polished for the tourist's. To get a feel for a possible life here you need to visit PV for a month if not 2. Look at it from a residents point of view. 6 day work weeks , low wages , transportation , housing , food shopping , stray dogs , chickens etc. Second - Misael is completely wrong ! He is Mexican. Working here is IMPOSSIBLE for a gringo . You would need to be a nuclear scientist to be able to get your FM3 card. Not gonna happen - cost's hundred's of dollars as well . Do not attempt to work here w/o it - the Mexicans are a dog eat dog mentality and will not look favorably at you for taking a job their brother could do. Here is a great site to save a lot of writing. Lot's of info for you. http://www.rollybrook.com/workingfm3.htm

idk if they have a Diamond's International in Puerto Vallarta (which is likely bcuz these stores are in most cruise ship ports) but these people hired me on the spot in Cozumel simply because I knew English and they taught me the rest...you'll get anywhere from 400 to 800 a month (depending) plus commissions. They acquired a FM3 for me. After proving myself with them they started transferring me to their Alaska port for the slow season in Mexico and I lived in both places for about a year before I wanted to go home again. The money in Alaska was FREAKIN' AMAZING (I literally saved thousands) and they provided housing as well so we had little expenses. btw is Mikey is right about most of what he says...I got so discouraged living on such small wages 6 days a week...never had two pesos to rub together. It's a hard life there. I'm glad I had my experience and I think you should too but be prepared to have your rose colored glasses yanked right off
