Didnt Pay border tax and want to go back to mexico?

Didnt Pay border tax and want to go back to mexico?
In march of 07 I ran out of money on vacation in mexico and skipped out of the border tax to get back into the country and didn't really have to sign back into the country or anything, I came back on a charter bus.....now in sept. 07 I am planning on moving to puerto vallarta for three months to practice spanish with a host family. What do I need to do, or check to make sure I can leave....or should I be scared? Am I in trouble?

Contact the border...I dont think many people on here have experienced that...so I would check with them....Good Luck!

Hmmm, this sounds a little sketchy...I don't know how they know that you skipped out on the tax. Talk to your host family now and see what they can tell you.

Me, my dog and luggage Mexico City to Acapulco, can't fly - anyone with a firiend/ family with car ??
I am moving to Acapulco and am bringing my rather large Doberman Pinscher with me. Well due to his size and large carrier he will only fit on a 757 aircraft. I can get that type of aircraft into Mexico City but no 757's are flying into Acapulco.I need to get me, my dog and luggage from the Mexico City airport and drive to Acapulco. Thought of a taxi and havent ruled it out. Any body have a family/ friend ith a car/truck in either city that wants to make a buck?? Surely someone out there has a friend that could help and make some money and day trip to Acapulco on my dime !!!

I want to be a flight attendant in Cancun, Mexico... How can I make this happen?
19 year old female from the United States, I'm currently learning spanish and serving at a restuarant, saving up as much money as possible to make my dream come true!!! I want to move to Cancun on my own, and become a flight attendant there. What do I need to do and how can I make this happen? Should I move there first, then try to get the job when I'm there? Or is there anyway I can get a flight attendant job here in the states, then transfer to Cancun? Any advice would be so wonderful!! I just need to know how to go about this and how to get started on making my dreams really come true!!!! Thanks :)

I suggest you ask this question under the category of "Airline Travel". There are people there who are currently flight attendants and can give you much more information.
2 :
You would not be able to work in Mexico........they hire their own.........your best bet would be to work for an american flagged airline that services Cancun. Perhaps you could work out of Cancun. Even if you could find work in Cancun. The wages are so low you couldn't afford to live there......sorry.......

Cancun is not a hub for any airline. Therefor all airline employees enter and leave Cancun. Lay overs yes but only for international flights and the next day your off to your home country. Mexico's largest airline Mexicana went belly up a few years ago and they were out of Mexico city. The private airlines all originate from someplace else and only bring people here and back home. Besides you can not just move from a foreign country and start work. It's just not that easy.Do your schooling, training and job experience in the US and put in for Mexico flights.

Why don't conservatives realize that the stability that creates the money making environment?

Why don't conservatives realize that the stability that creates the money making environment?
they thrive in, is also attributable to social safety nets they are constantly attacking? There's a direct relationship between poverty and instability.. instability does not create an environment favoring capitalism.. Otherwise Mogadishu or Tijuanna Mexico would look like the most modern hub of capitalism. People who are NOT in poverty.. or are happy, healthy, educated, and productive arae just as important a vital resource as a smooth highway.

Generations of inbreeding produces people who aren't too sharp. It is tough for them to grasp concepts that come easily to the rest of us.
2 :
For the same reason they don't realize slashing education funding, especially for math and science, and insisting creationism be taught along with evolution is contributing to America being less and less competitive in the global market.
3 :
Yet you seem to be wrong huh.
4 :
Just because you think it, doesn't make it true.
5 :
We understand stability creates a money making environment, what concerns us is that welfare was supposed to be a temporary hand up, now it is a permanent hand out and people have been living on welfare for 40+ years and it looks like they are never going to get off it. I would like to see reforms for this, like making people report to work everyday and finding the crappiest job for them to do everyday so that they will be motivated to get off their butts and do something. Also we need to set a lifetime limit. If you don't have these things, people will just continue to get "money for nothing"
6 :
Yeah OK whatever, isn't that what Karl Marx said also
7 :
As an entrepreneur, the so-called "social safety net" did absolutely nothing for me at all, except cause my taxes to be higher than they would have been otherwise, and, since some of those taxes were tied to employment, they discouraged me from hiring Americans.
8 :
Considering conservatives are the ones creating the "money making environment" that liberals want to redistribute, and liberal "social policies" are directly what caused the need for those safety nets in the first place, I'd say your question is entirely moot. "Great Society" my azz.
9 :
Why don't liberals realize that "stability" is a poor excuse for tyranny? Why don't liberals realize that the social safety net is not the government, it is your fellow citizens? Why don't liberals realize that America was stable, grew and prospered for more than 100 years before the first federal welfare programs were invented? Why don't liberals realize that there are million of possible solutions to any given problem? Why do they say the ONLY answer to every single problem in the universe is the iron fist of government?
10 :
You are making assumptions based no conjecture and not supported by facts. What "stability" is provided by social safety nets? There was stability long before social safety nets ever existed. There has been plenty of social unrest since such safety nets were created. They created a concept of "entitlement" or that a person was entitled to benefits without doing any work does not create stability. It creates resentment, criminality and unrest. Today, it has created class warfare with people blaming successful people for their personal failure, demanding what others have earned and worst of all, accepting the false premise that government is the source of happiness. Below is a link to a story about Missouri Welfare recipients spending their welfare money in Hawaii. I have been working hard and paying taxes for 40 years and I have never been to Hawaii. *
11 :
I noticed most responses tend to focus on how paying for the commons of society, (which even profit motivated capital hungry elitists use) and apparently they assume that the commons should be free exclusively for them and that paying their fair share is an affront to their money hoarding "freedoms". So, if only the poor/middle class pay for the commons, why don't we set up toll booths at every street corner so that all the tax-phobic entrepreneurs can pay a per use fee for moving their products across America, then we'll see how eager they are to pay a corner to corner "fee" to move their companies products without incurring any taxes that pay for the (currently poor maintenance) of the commons of society. Apparently, only money hoarders know exactly what taxes should be spent on and liberals do not. Conservatively-correct economic logic dictates that taxes only pay for things in society that "boot-strap" conservatives think are a waste of money like undeserving lazy poor people or at least that's what liberals have all been pigeon-holed by repetitive conservative myth-building perpetuating an anti-poor/anti-middle class worker-rights framed as the main enemy narrative that is supposedly opposed to "capitalism". In reality, we're opposed to unequal taxation burden that rewards wealth by funneling money upward to the already wealthy by stealing from the poor/middle class via unequal taxes. Meanwhile the rich take multiple tax holidays, why else do you think the wealthy wannabes are so eager to distract and divert people's attention away from all the tax avoidance schemes that they use to get back money in tax rebates for money they were never taxed on to begin with? Every time a conservative complains about taxes, remember than most conservatives avoid paying taxes, what they are in fact doing is distracting ignorant people away from noticing how much taxes they do not pay, what they want people to believe is that the poor/middle class DO NOT pay ENOUGH in taxes! Most rich pay less than half (15%) in taxes on dividends and capital gains that the poor/middle class pay on average 35% on far less money given that each tier of wealth is taxed differently and as the wealth threshold goes up, the number of tax waivers/loopholes rises exponentially, is it a dirty secret? Maybe, but who has time to worry about wealth if you're busy paying our own share of taxes, plus the taxes of the wealthy who with tax cuts their main objective, someone has to pay for the loss of revenue and guess what, that's you and me that have to bail out the wealthy who hate paying their fair share because they want desperate underpaid workers chasing down that elusive dollar to pay all their bills, vice rebelling against the ruling elite who play reverse robin hood by stealing from the poor to give to the rich, it's not trickle up, it's an upside down waterfall!

Do you think Americans want to pay high dollar for empmloyees?
Why do you think all theses companys are moving to Mexico and other countries? Cheap labor! It's funny that you read my questions, answer them and still believe I'm illegal. HUH? I'm not on WELFARE!!!!I am legal, and what i meant on you need someone to apply for i meant your own children being born in America. Who was the cry baby that reported me? For what? You said if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen right? I never said no one works hard, what i said was that no one from here would work for 5.00 an hr.Someone even admitted that. How do you think we get anywhere without papers? Here you get Free daycare, food, housing, school and everything so that you don't have an excuse why you can't make money. People from Mexico can't get anything else, besides on the job training.Who do you know that will start you at 10.00 or even 7.00 with no experience,no education? All i'm saying is that the reality of all this..Someone has to do the dirty work!Who from here wants to do that? Sorry, just realize that i mis spelled employees!

Mexicans will work for any amount of money, so what do you think?
2 :
Most every high school kid I know that works for our company, 500-700 in all, all make pretty low wages, under $6.00 an hour. I dont think there is anything wrong with people immigrating from Mexico to our country so long as they get papers and pay taxes, etc. Our government really botched this process though, so I dont blame people coming over illegally. We need to instiute a better process that will allow for an efficient application process, screening, and turn around of application. We also need to secure our border, for the sake of everyone living here, legally or illegally.
3 :
In states without illegal immigrants, Americans do this work all the time. In our country we don't think it is right for people to have to work for a sub-level wage. If you end up getting legalized, this will apply to current illegal immigrants too, so don't fight it.
4 :
I agree. People keep complaining that their wages are being lowered because illegal immigrants work for less. It is not always true, but even if in one case it is...why should someone be hated for working hard for less money. Isnt that their business? If they are happy working for less, why don't people just look for a better job? It just makes sense for businesses to pay less. Like all those people against Walmart because they are cheaper and supposedly "run out" all the mom and pop stores of small towns. Well I say, if you cant compete, then you should not be in business! Why would i ever choose to pay more to you for the same thing that I can get at walmart cheaper? It doesnt make sense. People need to stop taking it so personally!
5 :
Blah blah blah. This argument is decrepit. Look it up. I have paid over 3k in taxes this year, and I am sick of helping people who do NOT belong here! To be honest I am sick of my taxes helping people period. I wish they would get rid welfare and any other program like it. I hate people in general anymore.
6 :
The facts of life are-- You are probably working for minimum wage right now. And it doesn't make any difference what you are making. If your employer said I'm going to cut your pay 10% you'd probably leave and never come back. That or you would start looking for a different job that paid more. And leave as soon as you found one. That means you are working for the minimum wage you will accept. And it probably means you are working for the maximum your employer will pay for what you are doing. If you went into your boss's office and said you want 10% more money they might show you the door. And say don't come back. But that's life. As long as you are signing the back of the check you really have little control over what is on the front.

I hope mine is an absolute failure. I want to see NO more debt piled up in the name of "stimulus". What a waste! We do need to spend money on the repair of infrastructure but that is because of past neglect. Too much has been wasted. Obama is going to double our National debt and that isn't the fault of George Bush. Obama OWNS our new debt and HE is the one responsible for it.
3 :
My senators are actually against stimulus spending and voted against both the Bush and the Obama stimulus plans. All of the spending is based on who cries the loudest and who has the most influence, regardless of whether the spending makes sense or not. There's no other way to explain why stimulus money is paying for an $800,000 overhaul of a virtually unused small airport named after Rep. Her friend are buying up land along the route to build high price condo's so that all state/federal government workers will be nearer to their important work of taking money from productive people. Sen. Al (Porn) is just starting his spending. And my Congress member has never seen a pork bill that could not be brought home.

Good question ,Ill be watching how they answer you on this one....
2 :
There are not enough good paying jobs for everyone. The worst paying jobs pay far worse than the worst paying jobs in the US. Sadly, you probably saw the rich people shopping at Wal-Mart in Mexico whereas you see the lower income people shopping there in the US. Do you see what I'm getting at?
3 :
Ever notice many of the people here who say there aren't enough good jobs to go around in Mexico don't seem to care about our unemployed citizens? They prefer to presume our people are lazy and somehow at fault, then want to give away the jobs we do have to illegals.
4 :
Um..... no, the prices are not the same as us. You are sadly misinformed. Before spouting anything about Mexican economy, maybe you should study it and its history, or even simpler yet, go visit, and go look at their prices. Tourist traps, and places that get a lot of mostly American tourists might have prices that are competitive with American markets (well, not really all that competitive) but if you knew anything about their economy, you'd know that there is a gaping hole between rich and poor, and an almost non-existent middle-class. Prices are NOT the same there as they are in the US. But then again, prices differ in the U.S. according to where you live! In any case, if you compare the prices and costs of living in, say, Mexico city to that of Southern California you'll see a big gap. I can also give an example that stems from simple observations : daily bread and butter things... staple foods and materials are for the most part CHEAPER over there than here. However, luxury items and things that most people don't use are by and far more expensive over there. There is a Sam's club near my house, and it's where I do the majority of my bulk shopping. While of course the prices aren't anything close to actually being wholesale, they're slightly cheaper than buying in smaller quantities. This part should be obvious, Sam's club and Wal-Mart are the same chain. Anyways, during a two-month stay in Torreón, Mexico, I visited a Sam's club a few times, only to find that their prices are close to 20% higher for the same products. Not only that, but electronics are also around that high(if not higher) of a rate more expensive. Prices are different depending where you are in a general economy, in a state, even by where you are in a city. (Just look at Southern California, where sometimes it varies by zip code) To state that prices there are the same as here is wrong. I mean, if that were the case, how come Saudi Arabians pay 70-80 cents per gallon of gasoline, while we pay 3 dollars or more? You're basically trying to imply that costs in the U.S. are the same as they are in Mexico, and that's simply not true. While a few services are the same price, if not cheaper, most Mexicans will NEVER be able to afford our standard of living. Not when you realize that their per-capita income is less than 1/4th of ours, and that their non-essential to living (automobiles, air conditioning, electronics) items are far more expensive than ours. But, hey, I'm guess you're all kids, so let me say this. Would you pay the U.S. equivalent of $240 for a PS2? That's what they go for in Mexico. All right, if your per-capita income was the average $10,000 USD (that's what it's estimated at as of 2005) per year would you ever consider buying a $4,000 TV for your living room? Would you buy an $800 computer, a $1,000 laptop? Would you be paying $600 a year for broadband internet? When you make less than $200 a week, would you be spending that on food, clothing, and shelter... or on luxury items like iPods, SUVs, or cell phones? In a lot of poor countries, there are massive splits. This isn't exclusive to Mexico alone... Cheap things are cheaper, and expensive things are a LOT more expensive.
5 :
yes, yes we all know about your friend in San Luis, get off it already. You explain it by looking at the fact thet he has an education, you have to have money for that and a lot of people don't get that opportunity.
6 :
it makes me wonder if the average Mexican is that poor how can they pay $2000 -- $4000 to get their poor ares smuggled into this country? seems a little ridicules to me.
7 :
Yeah, its incredible how ignorant most people are about Mexico. Its hard to imagine a European, Canadian or Mexican being so totally ignorant about a country which was a next door neighbor. The middle class in Mexico runs at over 25% - 30% of the current Mexican population which is hardly non-existent nor insignificant. While the middle class here does not earn as much as the American middle class, they also waste a hell of a lot less too. (the poverty IS a great problem and one that MOST Mexicans of all classes are deeply concerned with solving. (FYI 95% of illegal immigrants are dirt-poor. Most middle class Mexicans would rather throw themselves under a moving subway train that live in the United States!) While prices used to be as much as 40% higher in Mexico than the US, they are now around 15% difference, which is EXACTLY the amount of the Mexican federal sales tax (IVA) included in the price of every good and service sold in the country! (congrats to yer freind, San Luis is a great town and her wage is real good too...)

The fiancee visa takes some time. It is a special visa granted to parties that are planning to get married. I think it would be quicker if you get married in the civil court in Mexico, call Legal Aid or Catholic Social Services. Are you a US citizen? If you are, and the baby is born in Mexico, you will need to go to the American Consulate closest to where your wife is and register the child as an American Citizen born abroad. But, have her register the child in Mexico too, that way the child will have to citizenships if he ever wants them.

That is how the U.S. is what it is now. We took what we wanted. We take Mexico and get everyone documented. Then we don't have to waste money on illegal immigration. All jobs outsourced would be in the U.S. again. The drug problem won't change because it manages to get here anyhow. ladd, i am better when it comes down to some illegal scumbag living in my back pocket. illegals are right up there with politicians on my hate list. it's amazing how people want to talk it but not take it. unblock your emails cowards. ladd and cid.

Okay, i don't know why guys like lladd have to blame all of the countrie's racism on White people. He makes no attempt to change the racism, he simply encourages it and promotes hatred. I would say it if I was any other race but white, but yes, we should take Mexico and make it part of the Uited States. We could use all the recources that they are to lazy to make something out of to make our country more powerful and help the honest working poor people there. But then again, Mexico hasn't made any progress in hundreds of years, so we don't really want to earn millions of unmotivated citizens. Great Question!
6 :
Not really, becase you can't just take in Mexico, you gotta take all Mexicans with it, too - LOL
7 :
It would probably be less expensive in the long run to take Mexico. Don't forget that they have quite a large reserve of oil that may enable the United States (after incorporating the Mexican states) to detach itself from Middle Eastern oil. Of course trying to get them to learn English would be darn near impossible since we can't even get people to learn it in the US now, legal or not. Nice dream, though.
8 :
hell yeah dats what should happen! U.S can see that its not the people of mexico its the corrupt goverment that use oil for themselves and dont help the people. its funny how people say its a shithole but alot of whiteys go there anyways, thats gonna take long to unite both countries
9 :
that was my thougth from the start it would be much easier just to make it the 51st state and we could go there to visit the jobs that we have lost to Mexico
10 :
No way
11 :
I can see where your getting but that would be close to immpossible. Not dissing the U.S. but we got enough problems as is. Like for instance, tonight on the news it said that two parties (I can't recall which ones) in Iraq where fighting aginst each other. One was supose to be the good guys (we are helping) and the others were bad. Instead of helping like we are suppose to we stood by. If this is what our troops are over there doing yet still managing to get killed then why are we there? I mean alot of people have loved ones over there. (my sister's first fiance' for examle) that we'd rather have home then there. If we fought mexico we would have the same issues. I don't think the U.S. needs to overcome Mexico, but something does need to be done about immagration. What? I don't know I'm not a all around problem solver lol but for you that think it's okay to come over and not get legal, if it's such a great country, why the hell not!! the drugs thing, I agree if it would happen that would be something that we wouldn't have to worry about. like you said it gets here anyway at least it would be one more thing not to worry about for drug loards. "Hmm..what are we going to do now? we don't have to cross a border and worry anymore?" but on the other hand, "boystown" as my husband calls it (I don't know what it's called or if this is it's real name) would have to be abloished. I don't care how "clean" they say it is. I better not catch my sons there EVER!! just e-mail me and I'll say more. talk later!!

What would Mexico/Central America be like without the billions of dollars in remittances...?

What would Mexico/Central America be like without the billions of dollars in remittances...?
...sent to them every year by illegals? And furthermore, does this prove that illegals have little to no allegiance to America, but rather see it as a way to make money for their home countries?

Even worse than it is today. Then more of those illegals will invade the U.S.
2 :
Reminds me of an old joke told by the folks living in Michigan. "Know how you find Ohio? Drive east until you smell it and then south until you step in it." Mexico is the cesspool that you smell anytime you drive south. Cut off the funds and the cockroaches scatter in search for food.
3 :
i could care less if their home countries benefit or not, the fact of the matter is that the money they send is earned through their hard labor and it goes to benefit their respective families... and the whole questioning of allegiance bit was entertaining, i guess the same could be said for people that buy products that aren't made in the u.s...
4 :
Great argument there. You don't want people to tell you what to spend your money on (taxes), but you want to tell people they can't support their own family. What a hypocrite. @ Jennifer if this is your picture, I wonder what will happen to you when you drive through Arizona under SB 1070. Te cres blanca, pero eres mas acura que yo. Y eso que no soy Mexicano.

Do you think Bush should give Mexico 500 million $ to curtail crime on their Border!?

Do you think Bush should give Mexico 500 million $ to curtail crime on their Border!?
I read he is also asking for this money to stop the drug cartails. Aren't we doing enough for Mexico. We send Billions back to their economy, we give health care and education. They have a lot of gas they could sell to make money. So why should we support there crime problem.

Hmmm....pay them to stop breaking our laws? So, if I break the law, I get more money? That makes total sense to me, talk about eliminating incentive...what a joke.
2 :
The US should not give any addition aid, and should reduce the amount we already give to Mexico. Mexico is not curtailing any illegal immigration to this country. The US should sanction, and cut aid until Mexico starts patrolling their own border. This would reduce the illegals in the drug influx into this country.
3 :
Bush is an idiot
4 :
no, mexico is already corrupt, they would just waste the money, he should hire people from here (u.s.)* to watch out side, (*meaning that you know it will get done)
5 :
Absolutely not.. Use the 500 million to secure our border..
6 :
NO, If they were REALLY fighting a war on drugs they would start with the drug companies right here. B ut there not going to do that, too much money for them!!! Its all a farce!!!!!!!!
7 :
How about spending that 500 million on armed guards at the border with orders to shoot to kill?

Bush should give Mexico absolutely nothing.. they can look after themselves.. they have been around as long as we have If he wants to give them anything, let him give them the ill gotten gains he and his family have made off the oil from this stupid war.

Do you all realize that prostitution is LEGAL in Mexico??

Do you all realize that prostitution is LEGAL in Mexico??
My grandfather (nasty old lecher that he is) lived in Mexico for 20 years (had to take his own money cause they will let you live there but not work.). Now from what he tells me (which is hearsay but from someone who experienced this) the families there will actually send their daughters out on the streets to make money being prostitutes. Matter of fact they do this at the age of 15! He even told me about one 13 year old. Not to mention that their dads would bring them to him! Oh and the wives don't get it any better, their husbands will send them out hookin' too. And before anyone says anything, YES my grandfather is a dirty nasty lecherous old man. I realize this. I also realize that he was wrong in taking advantage of this. HOWEVER, do we want the U.S. overrun by a culture that does this to their teenage daughters??? If we didn't have all these ILLEGAL immigrants here to pay for (wellfare, health care, etc) then maybe we would have the funds to direct towards taking care of the issues stated below. However, keep in mind that the crack is coming from cocaine which is coming from the countries a lot of these immigrants are coming from.

Is prostitution legal here? No [for the most part].
2 :
U.S. overrun??? Please.
3 :
I doubt all of us know that
4 :
Overrun? Hardly. And it is legal in Nevada.
5 :
yeah but it is so stupid that is why they are spreading like they are.
6 :
Just read the crap that people post on Yahoo answers...how would it make a difference? Stop making up your own crap. Yes prostitution is legal and actually the ages of the girls is even younger than 10. Overrun...stop being so dramatic.
7 :
Our culture does that too, honey. The fact that it is illegal here doesn't stop it. Sad but true. I don't think that's a good case against Mexicans in particular.
8 :
"HOWEVER, do we want the U.S. overrun by a culture that does this to their teenage daughters???" Tut tut. And some are complaining that this is being turned into a racial issue. Which visa did the Pilgrim Father's apply for? And wasn't prostitution legal when they left England? Same question applies to Paul Minuit, Peter Styvasent, Tom Paine...
9 :
Sounds like the inner city gangsta culture in America, except that the 13-year-old crack whores here are out on their own because daddy is unknown. We've already been overrun by this nasty business, which is glorified in rap videos shown on MTV and BET.
10 :
Prostitution is Legal in Germany too (Redlight- Frankfurt). But not everyone in Germany is a slut. Even though your gramps had the hook up in mexico, I really doubt its everywhere there, and I really doubt everyone is doing it. But hey, ask him where he was at, and I'll check it out for ya.
11 :
In the United States, the average age of a first-time prosititute is 14. Many are runaways who are "rescued" by pimps and turned out. Some others are even turned out by their own families.... I would have to say that many of the young girls who work as prostitutes on America's (and Canada's) streets would not be there if their home life had not driven them there. How is this different?
12 :
That's not all they do.One Mexican broke and entered our neighbors robbed him and killed him. Another neighbor here died of a Mexican drunk driver with no drivers license.Further more one of our co- workers with no drivers license made a wrong turn in front of a semi truck and was killed instantly she was from Mexico. My brother in law up at Jordon Lake fished out a dead body he was from Mexico.HE died because he couldn't read English the sign said danger no swimming here. ME speak NO English cost him his life and the list goes on+ on+ on+ on+on
13 :
If you havent realized people who move into the U.S. are the ones who don't want their daughters through that. They only come here seeking a better life. And not only mexicans move into the US. There are many immigrants from other countries. Don't be so ignorant.
14 :
Well girl at least they do it for money. You do it for free. I am sure you can't count how with the ten fingers of your hands the number of men you have screwed. Oh... I gorgot. Maybe your men take you out for dinner first. That counts as a payment. So in this case you do it for food.
15 :
Yeah and prostitution is legal in Nevada too!! OOhh I get, you live in Nevada.

Why do Mexicans hate Mexico?

Why do Mexicans hate Mexico?
I don't seem to understand fully. People hate Mexico, so they come to the US to make money. Then they leave the US after accumulating a sum of money, and go back to Mexico. If Mexico is so bad, why don't they rise up and do something about it? Get rid of the government and make your country a productive one. If Mexico was not a piece, do you think that we would want to keep them out?

because mexico has poor politics, poor leaders. Too much corruption, much poverty...the mexican government doesn't care about it's people...why do you think so many want to migrate to the U.S.? they have not built good industry, have not learned how to handle their resources, the economy therefore suffers, the peso can't compete in the foreign market so compared to the U.S. dollar, the peso doesn't add up to much. To come to the U.S. and work, send American dollars back to mexico equals a lot of money when converted to pesos.
2 :
They don't hate Mexico. They just can't make a living over there.
3 :
Mexico is a poverty stricken area. Crime is rapid, thier is no law in Mexico, unless you can pay for protection. Illegal drug operations are at an all time high in Mexico, with no laws to control the situation. The people are either very rich or very poor. And as we all know the poor have very little say. They hear stories of how Americans live, and want that as well. Where the problem lies is that they are not schooled as to how American politics work, our cultures, or way of life, and think that Americans are accepting of any situation. After all, when an impovished country notices signs posted to go to America, and actual places to go to get free services when they arrive, well, what do you think happens next? For a long time, these signs were posted and distributed to go to Georgia in the United States, much land, many free services, etc. And I'm sure other states as well. As you see, we are not recieving any Doctors, scientists, etc. If we do they stay awhile, then take the money they have earned and go back to Mexico, because they can live like millionares. The poor people stay because America gives away food, clothes, food stamps, welfare, job training, protection, medical services, child care, free rent, etc. etc. And lets not forget free education, college included. great, huh? What happens to the poor American families who are told that they cannot get these services? No tax shelters, and in some states if you have no qualifying children you cannot get medical or dental help because you cannot afford it. Hey, see the total picture.
4 :
They have ruined their country and would now like to mooch of the US. They come here saying this is their land. We have taken it from them. They better bring more than 12 million if they want to take it back from us. We will not lay down and let them overrun us. Look at L.A. and you will see what will become of the US if they succeed. The Us is a free handout to them and that is our governments fault. The government had better do something soon or there will be another Boston Tea Party.
5 :
Lack of freedom, jobs, and their is great poverty
6 :
My problem is that they don't like Mexico enough that they want to leave, but want to bring it with them. Everyone honors and celebrates their own heritage, but those of us who honor different heritage and the American culture should be respected as well. Particularly since this is the home culture, and they are the ones who chose to come to us. rory, all of that about high crime etc. is happening here now, in part as a result of uncontrolled illegal immigration of gang members from Central America and criminals. Many illegal immigrants are hard workers, but a much higher proportion of those who illegally cross the border are violent criminals including gang members than the proportion in our society as a whole. We don't want those problems brought here. Do illegal immigrants want that here? I mean, isn't that what they were trying to leave behind? Me, I want to secure the border.
7 :
Mexicans do not hate Mexico, they just can't survive there. Sure if they can afford school then they stay, but if their family doesn't own a store or something they do migrate to the states. in mexico there are only 2 classes, rich or poor, and many more people r poor than rich. People don't hate their heritage, its just that they cannot afford to stay and surivive on $40 a week. so they do come to work for some time and most do come and go back to start a business. But mostly they have families and eventually stay because their children are born & raised in the US. But i've never met a mexican that said they r coming here to live off of welfare, most come to work for dollars and in hope of a better life. No its not right for them to come illegally, but they aren't going to wait 10 years for a visa. And it doesn't help that our gvmt has let this problem evolve into 12 million undocumented PEOPLE, but its too late and these PEOPLE r here to stay.
8 :
you talk because you don't know nothing. please stop stupid question. do your research if you have something to say because you look stupid.
9 :
Because their government is corrupt and the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. There is no middle ground. They just have a horrible government. You ask why can't they all rise up and change their government and make it sound so easy. Do you honestly think it would be that easy if all the United States citizens decided that we wanted to overthrow our government too? I don't think so.
10 :
THEY DON'T HATE MEXICO THE DISLIKE THE GOVERNMENT

Why does angela R blame America for every problem Mexico has?

Why does angela R blame America for every problem Mexico has?
Are those with connections to Mexico more interested in the welfare for the people of Mexico. Isn't angela R from Mexico is this why she condones fraud, stealing of ids she suppose to be a chruch going person but her chruch is only worried about filling up the pews and adding to the collection plate-pass the loot at any cost. angela R pro claims the laws of America do not apply to her like Bush she answers to a higher power who had to put right and wrong on earth. As long as angela R makes money off of Mexico she will condone drug smuggling as decent chruch going people who only want a better life.

Leave Angela R alone. She hasn't done anything wrong. People have their own opinions, just like you. I thought the US was a country of FREE SPEECH. Geeeeezz Chill out. Don't get your panties in a ruffle over something so stupid.
2 :
I am against illegal immigration but there is no reason for hatred between us. I have read alot of her questions and answers and she has alot more dignity than alot on here so I see no reason to hate her. I don't agree with her but atleast she doesn't hit people below the belt to make her point. If you have some examples of answers or questions I may have missed then post them but as of right now I respect her oppinion even though I dissagree with it.
3 :
She does seem to be more concerned with "Her" people than "Her" country doesnt she? Some where in the bible, people are told to respect the laws of man, and abide by them, no matter where a person finds themselves. As a guide for living, the Bible is pretty good if that is what you choose to believe.
4 :
People like A R justify only their race breaking the law. This is the biggest flaw in the Mexican Culture. They are not a very individually thinking group of people not because they can't they've just been brained washed for so long to think one way, collectively not as an individual. They also are very superstitious and the church has a real hold on them. Not a good combination for a rational thinking people. That is just the fact for good or bad.
5 :
I think it's hard for Mexicans to face the facts that they are the cause of all their misery. It's easier for them to just blame the United States. Of course, for some reason they all want to move to the place they blame. It sounds like a psychological problem to me.
6 :
zoe you got to show links to make this outrageous story plausible. I do think Angela R is more concerned about her people than her Country that she now LIVES in. You always hear her on here bragging about all the nice stuff she does for Mexicans but does she forget that there are not only Mexicans in this country? Or is it that that's the way she wants it. Doesn't La razas slogan go something like all for the race nothing for the rest or something like that? Renagade you are right the bible does say to obey your government.
7 :
Shame on everyone of you who are defending a personal attack.. and one of you has had the same thing done to someone you love yet you condone another doing it to someone else SHAME.. and Knight... I have never agreed with you.. but at this moment you have my respect.. you are a true gentleman.

buy drugs, come to america and resell them at our prices. Then once you make enough pay poor people to do it for you and ensure they don't steal any by like holding their families hostage or something. Then live in luxury.

What is causing this rush of illegal immigrants from Mexico into the United States?

What is causing this rush of illegal immigrants from Mexico into the United States?
During the 90s, you didn't hear so much about this happening. So why are so many Mexicans trying to get into the US now? Do they know something I don't know about making money in the US? Wow!! Dar, according to the graphs, it shows that the US needs to put a cap on how many immigrants enter the US to keep it from being over-populated.

I don't know. Perhaps they believe they will make a better living here, not knowing it's a whole lot worst here.
2 :
I think it's a direct result of katrina and other devastating storms in the south. Illegal Mexicans have been an issue since the beginning of our boundaries. It's just after the storms that the wave of immigration hit us all. tens of thousands of people were displaced and had to make lives elsewhere. The illegals now are not so confined to the border areas and have come to small town America. They steal identities to get jobs. I believe my neighbor to be illegals and they have 10 cars there on Friday night when everyone's home for the weekend. They live 10-18 in a one family dwelling. If all of them are working and sharing the bills, it's pretty cheap to live and they make lost of $$
3 :
There has always been illegals coming to the US. We are hearing about it more now b/c of 9-11 and all the terrorist trying to come into the country. The illegals just prove how easy it is to enter the US. Another reason is for a while there was talk of giving the illegals already here citizenship. This cause more illegals to enter with the promise of citizenship.
4 :
Take a look at this, it is logarithmic growth and we have reached a critical mass off illegal immigration on TOP of the legal immigration discussed in this video. Slide the bar to where you see the logo for the Immigration Gumball presentation so you don't have to watch the boring introduction. The rest is still dry, but is important information. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5871651411393887069
5 :
yea, the cartels are taking over and if if your not being a mule, a prostitute, an alien smuggler or something to bring in revenue to the cartels then they don't need you. The Mexican gov't lost their balls years ago and they will "never" get them back. Its a lost cause over there.
6 :
Most immigrants are from really poor Southern rural mexico where people are desparate for jobs. (38% of all Central Americans are below the poverty line). And the US has lots of jobs that most Americans won't even think about doing but for poor southern Mexicans those jobs are perfect and literally save their lives. Fix Mexican govt & their economy and the flow of immigrants will stop.
7 :
poverty you can't get a job in Mexico and if you do the wages aren't enough to support you
8 :
Mexico has political problems and economic problems. People can make more money here and have more freedom.
9 :
Two words: George Bush. He doesn't give a crap about the problem, he pretends it doesn't exist, and he encourages them to come over. Plus, he's in bed with Vicente Fox. The whole thing makes me sick. George Bush is a stubborn, self-centered jack-ass and the problem will only get worse during these last years of his term.
10 :
I don't know but they need to go home and become citizens the right way.
11 :
You've answered some of this question in your own sentence, "during the 90's"... As a matter of fact, illegal immigration from Mexico into the United States stretches back for much, much longer. However, after 9/11, the problem of illegal immigration was raised to a national security issue...and it has been virtually non-stop on the lips of politicians and news anchors. I wouldn't say that Mexicans (or any other nationality) necessarily know more about making money...so much as they are more willing to take risks like illegal immigration to support themselves or their families.
12 :
They know that there are people trying to get illegal immigrants granted amnesty, so if they can slip in with the rest, they might be included. And living in the streets here is better living in a rundown house there. They can get work easily since they don't require as much pay as we do and they get paid under the table which means even more money for them.
13 :
MONEY ! MONEY ! MONEY ! If you ever get the chance to see what the paso is worth compared to the US Dollar you will understand. Mexicans can work for one day here and make several days wadges.
14 :
First all the illegals are not mexican. THey happen to be from guatamala, el salvador, honduras, panama, etc etc. I can see the tijuana ./san diego fence from my house and trust me there are not any illegals hanging on the fence trying to get across. The reason it is on the tip of everyones tounges these days is because there had to be some type of diversion from the fact that so many young soldiers are loosing thier lives in iraq. . People also forget that Mexico is stuck right up against us and that there billions of people living there and millions more completely legal ones living in the US with families in Mexico . I would think that it isnt such a good idea to make enemies out of your neighbors who over populate you. one last thing considering the amount of people that live in mexico now and before there are less people trying to cross the border. 10 years ago alien smuggling was practically done by every other person in Tijuana and today its hard to find anyone. The numbers that the US border patrol give out are not really the numbers that are being caught. And lets not forget the half open door the border patrol leaves open so that there will always be illegals coming in to the states so they will have people to catch and make it look good. WIthout any illegals from anywhere where would all the border patrol officers find work at? and what would the gov. use to take peoples minds off the war.
15 :
To them that say money, is money not the root of all evil ? The word is out in Mexico that anyone can obtain amnesty in America with the new Congress shouting it aloud from Washington expect an even more of an rush of illegal aliens from Mexico.
16 :
My brother speaks fluent Spanish and this is what he says the illegal aliens say about the U.S./citizens of the U.S. They say that they want their territory back. 200 years ago, they Mexico owned California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, etc. They know that they can get away with whatever they do. They know that the government won't punish them and they can get free money. They think that Americans are stupid for letting them in the country, so they feel welcome here. They can get what they want, as long as they threaten to sue for racism.
17 :
The reason is that Mexico is so inept and corrupted with their financially situation that they don't know where their money is going to. Well, everybody knows that their money is going into their pockets but they are not going to admit it. well, one of this corrupted government officials decided that is better for the Mexican government to send their poor, uneducated, sick, etc. citizens to the USA so they could work and then send their money back to Mexico. This operation is costing our economy over 10 billions of dollars every year, this is with out counting the billions of dollars in aid that the USA sent them every year. But the problem with this is that every day their economy gets worse, because the more the government makes, the more they all put in their pockets. And I'm not even counting all the money they get from the illegal drugs carter than are working with the blessing of the government. So do you think that all of this inept and corrupted and inaction government have to be paid by the American citizens. It's a conspiracy of the Mexican government and the Corporations of America. Do you think that we as Americans should take all of these Mexicans citizens and let them do what they want in our country.. Do you think that fair,, I don't...
18 :
Strangely enough, I read that they tightened border security and built a partial wall. After that immigrants quit going home(they used to come over temporarily) because crossing became difficult so they started staying, bringing families etc. "On a recent visit to the binational Arizona border town of Nogales, I stood on the U.S. side of a 2.5-mile-long, 12-foot-high wall erected by the Clinton administration that divides the town in two. Constructed with steel landing mats salvaged from the gulf war, reinforced by 13 surveillance towers with 28 remote controlled cameras, and its surroundings peppered with countless seismic, metal, directional and infrared sensors, it stands as a monument to folly." The writer says that immigration instead increased drastically. I agree-they make more money but the cost of living here eats it up. I keep thinking they'll come up with a baby boomer exchange program.
19 :
Wow!! Dar, I am shocked that you fell for such a cheap trick. Here is a good book for you 'How to Lie with Statistics.' Read and learn.

The problem has been for years the reason it is starting to be more publisized is due to 9-11

Can supporters explain why "Mexico's Rich Don't Like To Pay Taxes — They Think You Should."?

Can supporters explain why "Mexico's Rich Don't Like To Pay Taxes — They Think You Should."?
Mexico Is Rich Mexican wealthy play American taxpayers for suckers Certainly there are many poor people in Mexico, since perhaps half the country lives in poverty. However, the nation as a whole is quite rich — see the documented facts listed below — and could well finance the sort of improvements in education and infrastructure that would better the living standards of all Mexicans. But the Mexican ultra-rich, like telecommunications magnate Carlos Slim shown here, don't like to tax themselves for investment the country badly needs for infrastructure and education, and it helps them greatly that the American taxpayer has been forced to support Mexicans living in the United States. Interestingly, the Forbes list of billionaires published in 2006 showed Carlos Slim moving up to the number three spot among the world's richest men. Every dollar spent in U.S. taxes for social services for illegal aliens frees up additional cash to be sent south as part of the annual remittances which provided $20 billion in 2005. According to the CNN news show Lou Dobbs Tonight (3/21/05), "Remittances, as they're called, are expected to become Mexico's primary source of income this year, surpassing the amount of money that Mexico makes on oil exports for the first time ever." So when el Presidente Vicente Fox complains that the "dignity" of Mexicans living illegally in America requires that they receive free healthcare on the U.S. taxpayer's dime, he is really talking about increased remittances to keep their whole corrupt system afloat. Consider these relevent facts: • Mexico has the second-highest highest Gross Domestic Product in Latin America, after being #1 for several years over second-place Brazil. • When measured in GDP per capita, Mexico ranks #1 as of 2005, ahead of Chile and Venezuela. • According to Forbes magazine, a substantial proportion of Latin American billionaires, 10 out of 26, were Mexican as of 2005. • Mexico raises less revenue through taxation than nearly any other Latin American country, just 12 percent which is one reason why the nation's wealth is not better utilized. By comparison, the United States takes in 25-28 percent of its gross domestic profit in taxes. Even Brazil taxes itself at twice the Mexican rate. • Economist Gary Hufbauer of the Institute for International Economics has remarked, "It's up to Mexico to solve its problem, and basically the wealthy classes do not want to tax themselves, period. While I'm not usually an advocate for larger government, Mexico is a country where public investment, done wisely, could pay huge dividends." • Mexico expert Prof. George Grayson of William and Mary College calls Mexico an "immensely wealthy nation." • Mexico's economy is the world's tenth largest. • When the ruling party needed a hefty sum for the 1994 election, Presidente Salinas leaned on a group of rich businessmen to write $25 million checks each at an infamous dinner party, where contributions totaled a staggering $750 million by evening's end. Compare that with the measly $150 million campaign chest in spring 2004 that President Bush had accumulated after three years in office. • Freedom House notes the cost of corruption: "According a recent study by the Mexico chapter of Transparency International, some $2.3 billion-approximately 1 percent-of the country's economic production goes to officials in bribes, with the poorest families paying nearly 14 percent of their income in bribes." • Ricas y Famosas — Rich and Famous is a book of photos that takes a peek at the hidden world of the Mexican ultra-rich. Photographer Daniela Rossell used her membership in the exclusive club to reveal the decadent lifestyles of blonde women in gold lamé. It is a shocking view of the most extreme ostentatious wealth among great poverty. http://www.limitstogrowth.org/WEB-text/mexicoisrich.html

you are correct in what you asked and not only do they not to pay taxes but they do not like to give to charity one of the wealthiest men in mexico laughed when he was asked if he gives to charity stating that he deserves to keep his money and is not like an american that feels the need to give to charity..

What "supporters" are you talking about here? Is this something political? I think this statement, presumably from your link says it all, " "It's up to Mexico to solve its problem, and basically the wealthy classes do not want to tax themselves, period. While I'm not usually an advocate for larger government, Mexico is a country where public investment, done wisely, could pay huge dividends." I mean there pretty much sums it up. I think if I were a Republican this would be an ideal country, no welfare and spreading the wealth around that's just communism and socialism, its just awful stuff. Why is this even posted in the immigration section in the first place? You should take this question elsewhere..... you know..... I have this crazy idea that "illegal immigration" is not meant to target race or ethnic groups.... but just solve the problems of undocumented people, be it by deportation or immigration reform.... but it seems to me like a lot of people sure like to target people of Mexican background..... hmmm..... but that would be crazy.... we all know illegal immigration has nothing do with racism, scapegoating, bigotry, RIGHT?????? That being said I take all those links with a grain of salt, a bunch of dead links and links to non-trusting sources.... like I'll believe that. Why don't you link us with peer reviewed papers and government information. EDIT: 2 Thumb downs already, SHOCKER! I'm seriously SHOCKED! I mean SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY SHOCKED. Maybe if I insulted "illegal immigrants" I would get more thumbs up.....

All of these stories are old but do go along the lines of corruption. That is the biggest problem in Mexico. As an added point; prior to Ex-President Fox, all of the these people were of the PRI party, which was one of the most corrupt political parties. They were in power for over 71 years, which was when Mexico began to deteriorate. Porfirio Diaz was the first to have turned his back on his people and greed became his friend and ruled Mexico for over 35 years, as if he were the king. Prior to Diaz, Mexico was prosperous.

Illegal aliens seem to think that they can show up at any where and demand any services that they want. The entitlement mentality is plunging America into debt and is destructive to both those who live by it and those who pay for it. Where are UN peacekeeping troops for the mission of halting Mexican drug lords and cartels?(sarcasm)

Should I let my fiance give his sister money for her to go to Mexico?

Should I let my fiance give his sister money for her to go to Mexico?
My sister in law is going to Mexico to visit her brother for a month, and we're going to drive down to where they live to tell her goodbye. My fiance and I have a 7 month old daughter and another on the way. We are trying to budget our money really well, while still putting money in our daughter's savings and paying for a $18,000 wedding! So, we don't really have money to give his sister. Plus, it's not like she needs it or deserves it, she does nothing but take advantage of my fiance (just like the rest of his family), because he makes the most money in his family, and has been responsible with it for the most part. His brothers have all given her money to go to Mexico, along with buying her ticket, even though she has money of her own. His brother has also been promising to buy our daughter's crib since I was 6 months pregnant, and now she's 7 months old! We set up a day to go buy the crib last week since our daughter grew out of her bassinet, and we drove an hour away to their house to go get it; then, once we got there, he said he couldnt afford to buy it because he gave his money to his sister for Mexico.

No, You Should Not Let Him, Because You Guys Need The Money More Then She Does, Besides She Already Has Money From Her Other Brothers And Her Own. So I Think You Guys Should Save The Money And Spend It On Something That Really Needs To Be Spent On.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the U.S to help Mexico fight drug cartels?

Wouldn't it make more sense for the U.S to help Mexico fight drug cartels?
We're wasting our time and money in the Middle East when something else is happening right at our doorstep. Drug cartels have been acting more like terrorists in Mexico in the last couple of months, and we haven't done much about it considering we're the main consumer of drugs that are produced over there. And the drug cartels are buying all of their artillery over here so we are involved in this too, so aren't we doing much to help?

Yea well we already have been funding them for many years. Are you implying that we should send our special forces there? I'm ok with that sort of plan.
2 :
I say we just add Mexico as our 51st state.
3 :
We would be wasting our time "helping" the Mexicans too. We would be better off temporarily seizing the border and whacking the Cartel warlords and their troops.
4 :
It would make more sense to pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and invade Mexico.
5 :
No it would not. It would make more sense to end prohibition, and permit Mexico to do the same. They can't because the US government won't let them. They also control Canada's drug laws. North American Union.
6 :
We've been helping for years.
7 :
How about we seal off the southern border? Makes more sense than both of your choices.
8 :
No. The police are just as corrupt and are part of those same cartels. They know how to Stop their own people without our help. It's about money and Drugs bring in big bucks. If people in the states were not Drug addicted, they would not have a chance and go out of business. Who was it that said a society that is annestitized is most easily conquered? The cartels just sent the head of an investigator, trying to get information about a murdered American in Cancun. to the police station in Mexico The Department of State has issued warnings to Americans Not to go to Mexico because of the drug wars being carried out there and in Central America. We need to shore up our own act, stop mass Illegal immigration, Build a Wall and secure the Borders, with a few troops and drones to stop it from spilling over into the United States and Check our Ports.
9 :
The biggest blow we could deal the drug cartels would be to legalize drugs. That would almost immediately end most of the violence.
10 :
It would make more sense to make drugs legal so that no one would have to wage a war on them. Furthermore, if both governments would stop trying to regulate peoples' personal choices as to what they want to put in their own body the violence caused by drug wars would come to a screeching halt.
11 :
We are helping but I'm not sure how. All I know is that agreements were made between the Obama administration and Mexico to help defeat the drug cartels.

Depending on which news or magazine article you read, the U.S. has been providing "aid" to Mexico to fight this infection, since 1965, to the total tune of 180 BILLION dollars ( + - ). That doesn't include massive training, weapons, ammunition stores, technology and armor. Closing the border was brought up by Ronald Reagan in 1972 when he was Governor of California. Doesn't "something" strike anyone else about how this massive aid has only compromised the U.S. MORE ? Why are we even considering letting this third rate country, with the "most" corrupt government in the world, interfere in our internal affairs ? The Mexican President has made comments that 30 years ago probably would have led to war. Today, the Democrats embrace, condone and encourage this insanity. Why ? What's "really" going on with this nightmare ? Answer: Mexico has repeatedly "refused" any military forces and in fact, has challenged Border Patrols who accidentally cross into Mexican territory, with "military" forces. Why would Mexico "want" to stop this "free money" flow into a country where the average wage is so very low.
13 :
You are right, We should be defending our OWN borders and strenthening up our security. We have almost left it too late because of the Governments refusal to listen to it's own people! Those guys in Iraq have had ample time to get their act together. They are never going to change their ways not in a million years. Help Mexico? Mexico should be helping itself! They have an Army, they should be stopping these illegals from sneaking across the border along with all their drug cartel members!!!

Part of the problem with immigrants (legal and illegeal) sending money to mexico to support their families, is we have ruined their economy with inflation. Increased supply of money = inflation & greater demand for consumer goods. Some areas, the average mexican worker living in mexico and working in mexico can not afford to survive. People now must rely on the outside flow of income from the united states...
2 :
Oh I said that huh? LET ME REPOST MY ANSWER, since you can't read nor have comprehension skills... Answer: I have traveled south and my husband is from Mexico City...YOU COULDN'T be more Wrong! Cars, electronics, furniture, clothes, are mainly IMPORTED....They are much more expensive there than here....An example, we were in Mexico City visiting my in laws....We decided to buy them a computer.....We went to Sam's, Costco's and Walmart and every single place was about 30% higher than in the US....We finally found one at a huge warehouse, where it was still expensive, but not as much as these stores....GET your facts straight....You have never lived in Mexico, so you don't have a clue, until you actually live there you will understand how much higher the inflation rate is....Why? Because everything is IMPORTED and that costs a lot of money.... So guess what? MOST people do without....Without a car, a big screen TV, a washer and dryer, computer, new furniture, etc.....They live within there means, no such thing as credit, and very few are able to get credit.....You want a home? TOO BAD, pay cash or live in a mud hut or build one yourself...NO SUCH THING AS A MORTGAGE.....You absolutely have no clue what life in Mexico is about....Next time just shut your flapper....Until you have been there and done that! I don't believe you have actually lived there....And as far as jobs in Mexico City, they have a very high unemployment rate, TOO many people flocking to the city and not enough jobs to sustain them....Think about it, 22 million? Its called import taxes, ever heard of it? Look it up, and get a clue...I think its very childish you have to single people out, how old are you?

I don't think I care to know anything about her.

It's because the rich people are gouging their own people to get even richer, regardless of the damage it causes. And with all the illegals supporting their families they can just gouge a little more. That's one of the things illegals aren't getting, all that money they send home isn't really improving anyone's life... it's just making it harder on those who don't have a relative here as the prices go up. Carlos Slim didn't get rich by charging people a fair price, he got rich because he has a monopoly on telecommunications. - So they can't buy a house and have to build their own what's wrong with that? Allot of Americans build their own homes, just yesterday I read about an American woman who built herself a little house the size of a parking space and is living quite well. As for building with mud, again it sounds allot worse then it really is and yes there are Americans building and living in those too. Do a search on building homes from mud, use the terms adobe, cob, mud brick and earth. They don't own a car, oh my, they should just kill themselves. No TV, computers, DVDs, video games, and cell phones? You mean they actually have to talk to each other face to face and their children have to go outside to play for a good time. Yeah Mexico sounds just terrible and the people must have completely horrible lives. All the material wealth we have in the states doesn't equal a better life, in fact they probably have things better without. And here's a news flash for you.... the US imports most of these things too. If you want to make an argument that things need improvement in Mexico talk about the food supply, medical care and education. All of which lay in the hands of the Mexican government.. not ours.
5 :
You are absolutely right MIDCENTURYDESIGNER!!!!!
6 :
It's partially true. In the third world, Necessity is cheaper, but luxeries are more expensive, and that's how I think things should be priced. Food tends to be cheaper, partly due to labor, but luxery items are imported and so tehy are more expensive. Also less people are able to afford it, so they need to make it more expensive for the businessmen to make a profit.
7 :
Your lack of knowledge in the area of economics is pathetic...not at all surprising...but still...pathetic. Supply and demand are the main elements that drive price...not wages. While you were doing all that traveling around in Mexico (doing all perfectly legal things I'm sure!!!)...maybe you should have taken a 9th grade econ class instead?? The world is exactly how you see it...just ask you...right. Um...yea...that would make you a Fascist. Congrats!!
8 :
did you know that midcenturydesigner is Angela R's other account? just thought every one would like to know this bit of information**
9 :
Slew is correct. Most (not all) necessities are cheaper in Mexico. Groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, etc are much cheaper. Property taxes are very low. Rents are lower. Bus travel is a bargain. But the things we tend to think of as middle-class necessities here are luxuries there and they are much more expensive than in the US. This includes cars, TVs, imported clothes, good shoes, almost all electronics. Most of these goods are imported. Items imported from China have a very high import duty that makes them expensive. The solution for most Mexicans is to either save up a long time for these luxuries or go without. Instead of buying a computer, they go to a public internet cafe (there are thousands in Mexico). Instead of buying a car, they ride the bus. Instead of buying their kids a PlayStation, they buy them a soccer ball and send them outside. Though the use of credit cards is growing fast, it is still difficult to get credit in Mexico and money is expensive. There are many stores such as Elektra that have active lay-away plans. Many Mexicans will buy a TV or washing machine and make small payments for many months before it is paid for and they can take it home. But in spite of all that, the Mexican middle class is growing rapidly. You can go into any Mexican city of any size and find a Wal-Mart, a Costco, Mega Superstore, Sams, Home Depot, Office Depot, etc. The people shopping in these stores are not all Americans. They are Mexicans, normal, working middle-class Mexicans, and they are buying. Not all Mexicans are poor. But it's true that the lower wages they earn means they have to work a whole lot more hours to pay for the things they buy than we do here in the States.
