How much does an auto factory worker make a week in Mexico? an hourly worker, turning screws or spray painting?

How much does an auto factory worker make a week in Mexico? an hourly worker, turning screws or spray painting?
I've been told they make $2 an hour. I don't' believe that, does anyone really know, how much does that Mexican worker take home in a week? Not the plant engineer or maintenance crew but the hourly worker.I know they make cars in Mexico, I saw them all lined up on the dock when on a cruise. Aren't we told the reason Business leaves the US is because our worker make too much money and the item can be made outside the US and shipped in, cheaper? How much per hour?

i wouldnt doubt it why do you think they drop their country and family and split to america
2 :
Mexican assembly workers average $3.50/hour.
3 :
They say $3.50, But if you go to Mexico and look at the take home amount, after all is took out it is closer to .90 a hour.

Thanks to Tonalc2. we have a talking point to begin with. 3.00 an hour loaded would give you 6 with benefits if the same factors for loaded hour wage are the same used in this country. It really stands to reason if you were an auto maker you would be foolish not to take that factory to Mexico. Because the average loaded hourly rate in this country is 78.00 an hour. So this is really a no brainer, What we have to do as a Nation is find a way to balance out these inconsistencies, Either through tariff, or Dock fees, or somehow through another trade item we can strike an equitable balance, Me Im just a Homicide cop not an economist, So Im out of ideas. But you real smart guys out there in that field should be able to come up with a balance.
6 :
And yet the illegals are still coming into the U.S. looking for work. 3.50 an hr!! Attention out of work Americans!!! If you need a job go to Mexico. Let's just see if we can get free everything while we are their illegally. What a load of tihs.
7 :
The minimum wage in 2005 was $4.50 per day. I saw a link saying the typical wage for a factory worker was $1.85 a few years back. I suspect that it is a couple dollars and hour plus change today. The information you have been told is pretty accurate. It is sad to see how prediction about the race to the bottom the NAFTA critics predicted is coming true.

Without having a college degree or any technical experience other than random jobs. I've heard that teaching english is a good way to make money but it looks like most places require a college degree and experience as well as having a TEFL certificate. Can anyone shed some light on that?

Can a business owner of a nonprofit business make money? If so, how?

Can a business owner of a nonprofit business make money? If so, how?
Please, no smart-alec remarks... This is a serious question, and want to know if in the State of New Mexico, an owner of a nonprofit business can make money and earn a living from this business?
Small Business - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
By paying himself a huge salary. The business itself isn't supposed to post a profit, but that doesn't mean the employees of the business can't earn a nice salary for themselves.
2 :
The difference between "for profit" and "non profit" is in basic terms what must be done with the profits. In "non profit", the profits are returned to the business. In "for profit" the profits can distributed to the shareholders via dividends. Think about hospitals, the vast majority of which are "non profit". Their employees certainly earn livings! And the reason hospitals go on building binges is the requirement for all of the excess to be put back into the hospitals -- or they can lose their status as "non profit". A CPA or attorney can help you get it all sorted out. By the way, just being "non profit" does NOT make contributions to the business deductible as charitable contributions -- to do that, you have to get a special designation from IRS.

Felipe Calderon says that the United States is making money off of the distribution of illegal arms into Mexico. He also stated that he has seen the U.S. help create conflict in a small country in Africa just to make money off of weapons sales. America sounds pretty evil.

Yeah, right, our govt is involved in gun smuggling...NOT. Many arms are acquired in burglary and home invasions, especially in Phoenix Az. Some are purchased using stolen ids to acquire a drivers license and a legal Identity.

Mexico is probably talking sh*t behind our backs, because they are still mad that they lost the Mexican-U.S. War in the 1840's and took the Southwest, GET OVER IT MEXICO AND YOU LA RAZA SCUMBAGS!!!!

I am from the north part of Mexico and I highly disagree. Yes we have A LOT of insecurity right now in my hometown but I don't think so cause they said before that Obama was gonna send American soldiers to come to Mexico and try to stop all this chaos and if they stop it there won't be no more distribution of illegal arms into Mexico which won't be helpful for the U.S if they actually do get money so the answer is NO. And to 万歳, YES we are actually talking crap behind your back, and no we are not mad. It was Mexico's president fault (which was pretty stupid) and maybe we DON'T wanna get over it.. do you have a problem? Hope not, cause if you do, SOLVE IT! And no, we are not scumbags okay. Some americans are just really stupid. (Im talking about you 万歳dumbass) And your country is just rude. That Arizona law is full shit. It doesn't make sense at all!

jus want to know how much money does an average mexican make a day in mexico

1 :
depends in which part of the country you live. But the highest minimum wage is around 58.00 PESOS A DAY. that IS A DAY consisting of 12 hr. shifts and one rotating day off a week. do not worry, some companies will give the shirt of their back and pay you 2 minn. salaries a day.
2 :
The site below indicates the current average daily wage is 209 pesos a day. This include all occupations form professors and doctors to laborers. The average NON-PROFESSIONAL Mexican makes much less. Usually 50 to 100 pesos per day...that is about $5.00usd to $10.00 usd per day.
3 :
The average income in Mexico in 2007 was $6,800.00
4 :
For a waiter is aprox. 50 pesos per day. Construction worker average 250 pesos p day Construction worker master 500 pesos p day Shifts in Mexico are 8 hours p day and one day off per week.
5 :
I lived in Mexico on and off for 2 years. My children's father worked 12 hours a day loading sand in trucks which there was alot of them that did that and he made usally like 20.00 dollers a day u.s. money 200.00 pecos thou. So there you have it.
6 :
$22.00 a day or under 200 pesos...... $18.00 after tax and s.s. which is bad after the 12+ hrs. shift of hell. WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT THE PRICES IN MEXICO HAVE GONE UP AND THAT CAN'T BUY MUCH IN MOST OF THE COMMON MARKETS. HOW BAD IS THAT??? CAN YOU FEED 8 PEEPS WITH UNDER 10 DLLS. IN MEXICO??? SOME DO AND OTHERS HAVE TO BEG FOR MORE CASH AND COUNT ON THE PEEPS THAT HAVE MORE TO GIVE THEM.
7 :
Aproximately $4 US per day.
8 :
I think that depends on where you are working I know that when we go to the resorts we all tip heavy so that wage has got to go up The bartending jobs must be a commodity there. When we were in Cancun my cousin gave the bartender 100.00 on the first day to open an hour early. but I always tip the maid 2.00 bucks a day the bartender 5.00 a day and the wait staff 2.00 each meal. I watch the bar staffs tip jar and it's pretty darn full each day.
9 :
my opinion would be $10 which is 100 pesos

could be hard depending on visa status and with only a 3rd grade understanding of spanish...I would suggest going for tourism geared towards visiting Americans...tour guide.
2 :
To WORK in Mexico , you must have an FM3 visa with a work permit. only way to get that is find an employer who will write a letter for you to give to the immigration office stating that he is offering you a job, and that he cannot fill that job with a Mexican national. Then after heaps of paperwork, time, and money , you MAY get a work permit. usually only people highly skilled in jobs needed here can get a work permit. You may start a business here if you can demonstrate that you meet the income requirement to support yourself while getting the business going and you can get the necessary licenses. If you want a job based on your college degree, you must have your original degree, certified copies of all transcripts, certification of the college from the secretary of state of the state where it is located. Your education will be thoroughly investigated and validated. If you want to teach in an English speaking school in a big gringo area, the jobs are highly competetive. Anywhere else you really need a good grasp on Spanish. In other words....It ain't easy! I know people here who have started succesful businesses, but they are fluent in Spanish, had plenty of capitol for start-up expenses, and went through lots of problems getting the business going and keeping it going. Salaries here are a fraction of what they are in the states and Canada. If you consider working in Mexico, you need to be PREPARED.
3 :
oh yeah good luck buddy. The mexicans love guys like you.
4 :
Study more Spanish and remember that some might dislike you since you are "American" or "Gringo" People forget that everyone South of the border is American since we live on the American continent. I used to confuse American citizen with US citizen. I am seriously thinking of returning to where I was born: Tijuana on Sunday, 3 January 1965 at 5:05 PM I am happy in Pacoima though http://www.geocities.com/pacoima_california/index.html

Be ready and study their culture since they are different.

The "Book" says you can NOT do anything re-numerable while in Mexico on an FMM tourist permit. If you get caught you can be arrested and fined and then deported, all at your expense. If you don`t pay you stay. Keep in mind that Time served does not mean what it does in the US and Time is added to the final bill to deport you.

I am a retired R. N. living in Mexico. I have been told R.N.'s make about $100.00 a week in Mexico. That may vary place to place, but it is definetly true that you would make only a small fraction of what you can make in the United States. You would be much better off to work in the United States, save up and make trips to Mexico when you are able. When you finish school, you could work for a couple of years in a hospital, get good experience, then become a "traveller" in the states if you like. Travelling nurses usually make a higher wage and have 3 month assignments. Then you could take 3 months at a time off if you like to travel to Mexico. It is also difficult to get a work visa in Mexico, and your standard of living would be Waaayy lower here on what you could earn here. Actually, i believe you should get a good job with a great retirement plan...then after 20 yrs...when you are eligible for your pension...you can move to Mexico and live quite well!

They have the super rich who live better than kings and treat the poor people worst than slaves. The children has to prostitute in the streets to eat. No welfare, no social security so old people sell gum on the beach to survive. No matter how poor they give to beggers of old people. work all day for a dollar. which won't even buy enough to eat for the day. The government is ran by the rich and they pass the laws and keep the poor very poor to keep down wages so they make more money. that is what is happening in this country. Soon it will be owned by the rich and you won't be able to make a living wage. Big business owns the country. They lie and say we can't raise the minimum wage but raise there wages 10 times. We are headed for the same situataion as they have in Mexico and we will be wanting to cross the border. That is their only hope of survival. Why do they take the chance of dieing in the desert? that is their only hope.

Doubtful that the price difference (if any) will make up for the cost of moving the car between states.
4 :
Bad idea. The cost of traveling to find and purchase thes cars and transporting the vehicles back up north will probably reduce your profits down to next to nothing. The only way it would be practical is if you bought a dozen (or more) cars at a time. That way you would reduce your expenses. Importing a car from Mexico is another situation completely and not one that you would want to get into.

hey lovie :) Long time no contact eh! Um there are a few ways to make money. Ask to do extra chores around the house to raise your allowance. Put in a good word to your family and friends that you would be interested in babysitting (i do it quite often- you'd be surprised how much money you make!) Ask neighbors/friends/aunts/uncles/etc whether they need someone to do their gardening... you could even help out by tutoring younger children with maths or science problems? Oh and if its a school thing, you might be able to organize fundraisers to help other students as well as yourself who need a bit of cash- sell cakes for a few dollars each... the usual fundraising stuff :) The thing to remember is that money doesn't come easy, you're going to have to work for it- and as you need quite a lot in a small amount of time, you're going to have to work especially hard for it! Good luck! :) Rome is meant to be magical! :D xo

Obviously teaching English would be a way to make money. Bar/Restaurant that caters to tourists. Your just going to have to think like a immigrant. Look at the ones in the United States. You see immigrants driving taxi, working convience stores, laundry mats, restuarants. etc etc. Your def. not going to be working at some CEO position for a mexican company unless you are extremely talented.

Generally a bad idea. Americans are not well liked in Mexico. Already a favorite target for violence just for being American, you would be espeically targeted today. Mexicans and most Latin Americans are taught from birth that all of their problems are the fault of America. That their corruption isn't what's wrong, just that American stole their wealth. It's bull of course. Corruption = poverty just how it is and if the US doesn't wake up we'll see just how corruption can make even the wealthiest nation a third world hellhole. In terms of jobs your limited. Mexico isn't like the US. You can't just become Mexican because you want too. You have to know somebody to get a job. You have to grease palms just to park your car in some places and expect it to be there when you come back. If you have money you have to live in basically a fortress to prevent kidnappings and robbery. If your poor it doesn't matter as you have nothing to steal. Unless your of Mexican descent, just being Hispanic won't get you anywhere, you have to be Mexican, you will be shut out of most jobs. If you do latch on with a decent job you'll spend quite a bit on protection no matter what your ethnicity. I suggest moving to Canada, Europe, Brazil or maybe even Columbia instead. Columbia seems to have finally gotten things under control and it's future looks bright. You'll be less of a target though no Latin American nation has half the freedom, prosperity or safety of the US unless you live in an inner city here in the US. If you do you'll feel right at home in Latin America because the gangs run free and the corruption is extreme.

While the federal government ostensibly attempts to crack down on illegal immigration, the Federal Reserve is trying to make it easier for illegal aliens to send money home. The Fed is expanding its “Directo a Mexico” program encouraging U.S.financial institutions to offer remittance services to Mexico. At the same time, Mexican business and government leaders are beginning to question the country’s economic policy of relying on money Mexicans send home from the United States.Mexicans send over $ 24 billion per year, What is your take on this,is it a good thing? You have done a research - well now put your idea into practice, based on your research work - start sending/ exporting the product you have identified to the party / importer in Mexico. By starting a small consignment you may able to gain an experience and real feed back about the future course of action needed.
2 :
When it comes to clothing, I remember this lady over on the West coast somewhere that had two shopping carts full of used quality clothing. She was behind me in the check-out line and I asked her straight forward if she had a business. She confirmed that she had a consignment shop and that she could mark up her clothing at least 10X I thought that was quite ingenious. Alternatively there is plenty of close-out offers for Brand Name new clothing if you can raise some initial cash to buy. When it comes to Machinery; there is at least 2 ways to go; A) Small engines that would help our friends South of the Border with Improving Agriculture. Like motorized tillers could be a way to start; B) then graduate into small used tractors. In both cases you will have to take responsibility for the Part issue; and even have a guy in Mexico to keep up the maintenance on these type of Machinery. C) Whatever Machinery there is a Market for. Check with local import authorities. The way to do the business would probably be to start with the Clothing and Shoes (Some research is needed to find quality shoes; and it will cost you a lot more than clothing.) In any case you'll have to calculate your transportation cost and eventually use a Spedition company that will take care of Insurance as well. In terms of research I would contact the local Mexican government in Monterey; and ask about Import rules for a small business. I would also check on-line for Export rules from this end of the line; and you may get both places. Just don't get discouraged with possible "red Tape". If you can ally with someone that is already importing from the US in Mexico; you could get a head start Write a fact and cost sheet as s you go; to find out what option seem to have a healthy (profitable) structure to it. I wish you a lot of luck. PS I would like to get some feed back from you and find out how this great initiative is coming along. Feel free to contact me at "redwagonretreat@wildblue.net" I am a retired bus. consultant for Small- and Medium sized Companies.

If it's paid under the table, we can't. At least until the employer is caught. Some use stolen SSNs and have taxes withheld but never file a return figuring that "La Migra" will come knocking on the door some night. Those folks actually pay MORE tax than they should in most cases.

It is subject to tax at non-resident alien rates.

How does New Mexico mainly make money now and in the past?

How does New Mexico mainly make money now and in the past?
States have different sorts of income, like Florida is a big tourist attraction. What is New Mexico and what was New Mexico used for in the past, like early 1900's. I need to know this for a project, thanks.

Nowadays, New Mexico does depend a lot on tourism. However, we have several military bases such as Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo and Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, Cannon (I think it's Air Force Base) in Clovis and, most importantly, White Sands Missile Range. We have scientific sites such as the Los Alamos Nuclear Labs and Sandia Labs (in Albuquerque). A hundred years ago, mining was important. The town of Madrid is now a ghost town but it was a mining town in the 1800's. Silver City was, ironically, a place most known for it's copper mines! (It still has Phelps-Dodge mines operating to this very day.) Truth or Consequences and Hillsboro were mining towns. I'm sure there were many others. Farming and ranching continues to be a big thing. Hatch, New Mexico is famous for it's chile. The Mesilla Valley near Las Cruces has Stahman Farms, known for their pecans. There's cattle ranches in the east and sheep in the Navajo lands.

For Mexico, higher oil prices have a generally, but not completely, positive impact on the country's overall economy. One mitigating factor is that oil export revenues make up less than a tenth of Mexico's total exports, down from more than 70% two decades ago. Increased oil prices also tend to hurt Mexico's main customer for its non-oil exports, the United States, which in recent years have represented a rapidly growing sector of Mexico's economy. Finally, higher oil prices tend to increase inflationary pressures and interest rates in Mexico, while reducing pressures for important economic reforms. On the other hand, despite the fact that Mexican oil export revenues make up only a small percentage of total export revenues, they account for around one-third of government income, meaning that the oil sector plays a major (even disproportionate) role in Mexican economic policy. For 2004, EIA estimates Mexican oil export revenues of about $21 billion, up 27% from 2003, on net oil exports of 1.8 million bbl/d and an average price for Mexican oil -- mainly heavy Maya crude -- of nearly $32 per barrel. For 2005 and 2006, Mexico's oil export revenues are expected to increase, reaching $25 billion by 2006. Mexico's main crude export grade is heavy sour Maya, which is of relatively low quality and therefore fetches a relatively low price on world markets. The other main Mexican export crude is light Isthmus, which sells for around $5-$10 per barrel more than Maya. Mexico's economy is expected to grow at a 4.2% rate in 2005, about the same as the 4.4% growth experienced in 2004. In general, Mexico's economy appears to be recovering from a recession which began in 2001. Mexico's 2005 budget assumes a price for Mexican oil of $27 per barrel, compared to $20 per barrel in the 2004 budget. The assumption for 2004 was around $12 per barrel below the actual estimated price for Mexican oil in that year, resulting in a significant budget surplus. Under Mexican law, oil revenues earned above budgetary assumptions go to fund infrastructure projects in the states, with the rest going to pay down government debt and also back to Pemex, the state oil company. Overall, Pemex sends about 60% of its income to the federal government in royalties and taxes, and is faced with a huge debt burden (over $40 billion) despite its high revenues. Among other things, this means that Pemex does not have a great deal of money to invest in oil exploration. To date, however, Mexico has been unwilling to open the oil sector to private (including foreign) investment.
