What kind of job can I get in Mexico as a visiting American?

What kind of job can I get in Mexico as a visiting American?
I'm an American and I might be spending the summer down in Mexico (Guadalajara) with some family. I'd like to get a job there to make some money, and, also, to improve my Spanish. (I'm reasonably fluent). What kind of job could I get that would do these things for me that would be a rewarding experience, and, that I could make some money with? I'd appreciate some suggestions. Thanks!

It is against Mexican law to WORK in Mexico while there on a tourist card...just as it is illegal for foreign nationals to work in the U.S. when there on a tourist visa. To work in Mexico you must have an FM3 visa with a WORK permit. These are nearly mposible to get and totally impossible to get for a casual job for a short period of time. you must be highly skilled in a job where thery need workers...and find an employer to hire you who will write a letter to immigration stating he is hiring you for a job he cannot find a Mexicn national to fill. He must sponsor your work visa. This takes, time , money and work. Unemployment is high in Mexico. there are many educated, skilled Mexicans avail for jobs of all kinds. there are thousands avail. for low-skilled jobs. Wages in Mexico are a fraction of what they are in the U.S. Unskilled work...like in a store or restaurant pays less than $2.00 an hour...often only $5.00 a DAY. Professionals earn about 1/10th what is paid to similar workers in the U.S....or LESS. Sorry to be so negative, but this is the truth...you simply cannot work in Mexico. Some people get menial jobs and are paid "under the table." This pay is very little...and you would be taking a job from a Mexican citizen. Perhaps your family in Guadalajara will know of some volunteer opportunities you could work with.
2 :
If you want to acquire work experience in Mexico and are a university student or graduate, perhaps you can search for an organization that would set you up with a sort of internship. Do some googling for such organizations and see what you can find, but be aware that it is quite likely that they will not pay you but rather you may in fact have to pay the agency that coordinated your internship a fee for their services. Other than that, perhaps there are some opportunities to volunteer as the above poster said. Charlie is right: you cannot simply go down to Mexico and apply for jobs at your whim. Mexican immigration laws are quite restrictive about foreign workers.
3 :
Oh NO!!!! I lived in the border of San Luis Rio Colorado and Arizona.. Mexico pays very poorly..and also I wasn't accepted since I didn't have Mexican documents, and I was applying as a translator for a big company. Don't even try it, just enjoy your vacation.
4 :
listen to Charlie - he's got it right
5 :
Yup... Charlie is right. Your best bet is to try to find a volunteer organization for which you might be able to do an internship. Work on your fluency with Spanish and in the end (a few years down the road when looking for permanent employment in the US) you'll be better off than if you picked up a few pesos in Mexico this summer. Besides voluntary organizations, check into any links you may have with social, civic, or religious organizations. Here in Torreon, for example, there is a very active Rotary Club. If you already have a connection to Rotary in the US, find a Club in Guadalajara and contact that group to see what volunteer activities they might recommend. You can also contact US expat groups in Guadalajara and see if there might be a US expat in business who might want an intern for the summer. You might not make any money, but there's a chance you could pick up some valuable experience that will again make a difference down the road. Beyond that, work on your Spanish, experience the culture, and enjoy your summer.
6 :
As a tourist you can only get one job here. It is called a "Mamada" You think you can work here?
7 :
Unless like others have said about joining an organization in the US or getting your current job to transfer you to a branch in Mexico, it would be unlikely. You could ask your relatives if one of them owns a small business like a family restaurant and you could work there with money "paid under the table", more for the communicative experience than actually earning any real money.

Are US corportions a positive influence on the evironment and political structure in India and Mexico?

Are US corportions a positive influence on the evironment and political structure in India and Mexico?
and other nations they inhabit? Just take India and Mexico (two major outsource regions) which are in just chaos right now. Plus, reports of toxic environment they leave behind in order to make more money is common place knowledge

I don't think there is a simple yes or no answer to this. I'm sure the by product or waste is not environmentally friendly. How ever the production may increase living standards. So it depends what you're willing to give up to accomplish what. If you're trying to spin and make it look like the US Corporations are a demon, you my liberal fiend need to understand that those people are better off doing what they are doing, then doing nothing and starving. This is a big picture, not just a simple pollution evil conspiracy.
2 :
Foreign run companies have a much greater legacy of defiling the environment nowadays.
3 :
Yes they have a positive and stabilizing influence. The problems in these countries stem from Government corruption and religious/social issues.
4 :
I'll give you one example. Western Union makes Billions a year from the people that wire part of their paycheck to their family in mexico. The Mexican Government nor Western Union wants a closed border....see the influence?
5 :
There are many problems with india as lollies, condoms and other products need not be made in india due to health regulations of america and other nations.Just because of the common wealth games india should not be given an avantage to make products that are at a health risk to other countries .To be able to balance economy in other countries products and corporations needs to study risk management to be able to sell products.Corporations are losing trillions by making food off food products.I will not eat fish and other vegetables products made in polluted countries .

Why don't we all go invade mexico, and make them start speaking english, and take their of thier jobs?

Why don't we all go invade mexico, and make them start speaking english, and take their of thier jobs?
for less money than they are willing to work for, and then march all over the country demanding that they give up their land to the united states? who is with me? raymond, i know about the north american union already, if that is what you are talking about in 2010. That is the stupidest argument in the world, that people will not take fast food jobs if they were high paying. i would quit my job right now and join the McDoinalds team right now if they payed me 40 dollars an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or pick apples off of a tree....or whatever!!!!!! its all about us not being willing to GET PAID SLAVE WAGES!!!! and we should'nt have to!!! of course this is satire, don't be so stupid.

no thanks you go to mexico and take their jobs, why dont we enforce the laws we have here and punish the people that hire them the problem will solve itself
4 :
They have jobs in Mexico? I'd hate to see what kind of jobs in Mexico that Mexicans don't want.
5 :
As long as its Cancun, AcapulcoCozumel, or Cabo San Lucas
6 :
Well I'm glad you're not making policy decisions for this country.
7 :
Instead of fighting mexican immigration I say we spend that money and purchase Mexico. Then we profit off of tourism and cheap labor. We have more coverage in event of war. Eventually we could own all of Central America as well. We would be unstoppable war wise. Almost like an international Monopoly of sorts.
8 :
Because the drug lords will kill us.....
9 :
what jobs? thats why they come here...and the exchange rate for the peso is crappy. Plus, most Americans won't work fast food regardless of pay because we're too good to work those types of jobs...
10 :
It's a great idea since so many of our manufacturing jobs keep going there...but the problem is that the Mexicans actually defend their border...go figure...
11 :
Yall would not survive in MEXICO.... You all are so dependent on all the stupid $#!+ in the world... We strive on family and religion... not who has what car and what size your iPod is...Yea we work for low wages but by the grace of God we are takin care of and have strong values.... Good Luck finding ur morning latte enema from Starbucks... I am not a racist i am married to a white woman with 2 mixed daughters ... i am against stupid people that think that we are here to take advantage of the US... in the US we tend to carry the left over jobs normal citizens would never want like janitor and bust boys and construction workers.... so think about the $#!+ that comes out your mouth before u say it....

How to make a business profitable, I mean, I have a cafe internet but it barely leaves money for the rent?

How to make a business profitable, I mean, I have a cafe internet but it barely leaves money for the rent?
It's in mexico, the price per hour is 8 pesos, which is the average in the zone, it's near the center of the city, I also capture data, or design logos, sell computers or parts, whatever the costumer wants as long as I am capable of doing it, but there is low customer attendance, so I would really appreciate some tips on how to make this thing somewhat profitable, and not to lose the investment that was made

You could teach English, either through a school or by privately tutoring students. Many business people in other countries want to improve their English language skills. Good luck!

Why do illegals march to make USA a better place for Mexicans?

Why do illegals march to make USA a better place for Mexicans?
Why don't they march to make Mexico a better place for Mexicans? A lot of people say its because of money but Mexico has a better economy then Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, Greece, and a 100+ other countries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)

yes, trust wikipedia...

because its easier to come to the US and get hand outs and free healthcare, and cops who will not arrest you.
3 :
Whatever the state of Mexico's economy is, the vast majority of illegal immigrants come here to find work. Some of them then protest here against efforts to keep others out, or to send the ones already here back, because, even though they may be here illegally, they argue that since they're now contributing postively to the American economy, we should let them stay. I'm not saying that I agree with that argument, but that's the rationale.
4 :
Illegal is the border that divides the American people.

HAHA HA LOL@ Wikepedia, Haha Believe what anybody can edit. Ha Ha. Please fools, where just stating our opinons, like it or NOT where here for good. HA HA WIkepedia ni que wike..
6 :
I laugh everytime I hear this question... Did you know people protest/march daily in Mexico City? People from all over Mexico, they are called "campesinos" or peasants, come to Mexico City, D.F to protest and have their voice heard in the capital, so maybe something will get done......They shut down major avenues downtown, and that is no easy task with a population of over 22 million.....Every time I go visit there, I see protestors protesting some unfair practice the govt. is allowing or inflicting on its people at the Zocalo (downtown plaza), some even camp out there for days protesting.... So my question is, why do people here insist Mexicans do nothing to change their country? WHAT ELSE ARE THEY SUPPOSE TO DO? They don't allow guns, so all they can do is have peaceful protests..... You complain they are here protesting in our country, and don't do a thing to change theirs? And while Mexico is considered for the most a wealthy nation, it is because of its natural resources.....That wealth NEVER trickles down to its citizens, but stays in the hands of a few wealthy elite familes who own Mexico....Mexicans average income a year is about $7,100.....Here in the states it runs about $34,000....Could you live off $7,100 a year? I didn't think soo.... So please get informed and stop parroting what you hear everyone else say, it gets old hearing the same tired old questions.....
7 :
Because they can recieve more benefits here like health care and education. But that is no excuse for coming to this country illegally! ARREST, DEPORT, AND BUILD THE WALL!
8 :
Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. America love it or leave it. Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. Leave it Now. Zero tolerance for immigration-law violators! No amnesty, no "stealth-amnesty." No "change of status," marriage fraud, "exceptional leave to remain," no "Temporary Protected Status." If you break the law, depart or be deported. Illegal aliens kill more US citizens each year than the war in Iraq has killed in four years. Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children. Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees. Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland. Taxpayers are being forced to pay for the free health care, education, and other welfare programs being given to illegal aliens; Those tax dollars could be given back to U.S. taxpayers or used to keep our borders secure; They may be here illegally, but they sure know how to "work the system" to collect "free" medical care, "free" education, "free" food, Section 8 housing vouchers and other housing assistance, and hundreds of other social services. It costs citizens additional hundreds of billions of tax dollars at every level: local, state, and federal. It gobbles up billions of our charitable contributions. And much of that money ends up siphoned out of our economy and into offshore accounts. Illegal aliens, over half of whom work "under the table" with neither job nor income reported (nor taxed), are not counted as employed or unemployed. But some of those day-labor and off-the-books "job-lets" would be "real" jobs - available to American citizen job-seekers - if employment regulations were enforced. Illegal aliens can get away with tax evasion, et al., which citizens cannot. In short, we have too many workforce entrants and too few jobs created. The ratio works out to roughly 7-10 workforce entrants per job created. If all illegal aliens depart or are deported, all legal immigration halted, and all temporary employment visas abolished, we still have a problem with more US-born workforce entrants than new jobs created. Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Zero Tolerance for Immigration-Law Violators! We must remember the lessons of 2/26, 9/11, and the costs we bear every single day. God Bless the U S A !

because first of all in the country of mexico the president takes the money from the people and as hard as us mexicans try to make them listen they don't. we believe that the united states uses us for work because americans can not get their buts of their couch to work in jobs us mexicans work in. and we march here because we have as much rights as any american here in this country. we believe in unity in our famiies and if anybody messes with our family they mess with us.
